Taste Testing

 Today’s delight was inspired by one of my favorite podcasts. They bought the seasonal Brachs candy corn bag, called Turkey dinner.  Then took each flavor together to taste test them, including things like stuffing, green beans, apple pie and coffee.  It sounded so fun, I went out and bought a bag so my boys and I could do it. We set up our samplers, had a score sheet and no spitting out rule.  We do each have a glass of water, to swallow quickly, if needed, and it was.  There were enough good to overcome the bad tastes but we had a blast laughing, watching each others reactions and giving ratings. Just about 15 minutes of simple fun with my boys but I’m sure we’ll remember it and share the idea with friends.  My joys and our shared laughter was one of the best delights I’ve had in a while!

Football Finds

 Two of my three boys are currently playing Youth Tackle Football.  This has become a regular delight for me.  We’ve found a community, friends, activity and entertainment all from this activity we are truly all enjoying as a family.  Practice three nights a week and two games on the weekend is a lot, but the positives it brings are worth it.  Currently the weather is starting to cool down, so sitting on the fields, filled with over 300 players, in addition to coaches and families we get to see the sunset each night.  We usually have clear skies and it feels nice to sit outside surrounded by it all and to be a part of something.  After so much isolation in the last 18+ months due to Covid, we have jumped back into being social with the added bonus of the boys opportunity to enjoy their favorite sport.
